Lau Sum Yin


A viola performer and orchestra conductor, Lau Sum Yin graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and was immediately appointed as a viola instructor at the academy. He also became a contracted musician for the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Currently, he serves as the assistant principal viola of the orchestra.

Throughout his career, Lau Sum Yin has frequently performed with renowned orchestras and music festivals around the world. He has participated in the Asian Youth Orchestra, the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra held in Germany, and the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra held in Japan, sharing the stage with various world-renowned musicians. He has performed in multiple countries, including the United States, Europe, and Asia.

In addition to his performing career, Mr. Lau is passionate about music education. He has led several secondary and primary school orchestras in Hong Kong to win numerous orchestra competition awards in the past over 20 years. He has also served as a judge for the Hong Kong International Music Competition. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and experience with young musicians.
