Ángel Luis Quintana

Cellist Ángel Luis Quintana, a native of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is a distinguished graduate of masters Rafael Jáimez, José Antonio García, and Enrique Correa. He has further refined his artistry in masterclasses with legends including Mstislav Rostropovich.


An acclaimed performer, he has garnered numerous prizes such as First Prize at the Ciudad de Albacete Competition and the Concurso Permanente. His professional career is marked by significant roles, including his current position as principal cellist of the Spanish National Orchestra and the Canary Islands Chamber Orchestra. He has also shared his expertise as a professor at prestigious institutions like the Reina Sofía School of Music and the Liceu Conservatory.


A dedicated chamber musician, Quintana frequently appears in Spain's most prestigious concert series and collaborates with groups like the Plural Ensemble and Zarabanda, touring internationally across Europe and the Americas. His diverse projects include the Klimt Duo with accordionist Jesús Mozo, and he is an Associate Artist of the Quantum Ensemble. His recorded work includes the CD *Requiebros* and the complete Beethoven works for violin and cello.

He holds a Master’s in Musical Research from the International University of Valencia and plays the 1800 J. Guadagnini cello, "Il Soldato", on loan from the COLUMBUS FOUNDATION.
